Welcome to the Science Department Website

Our department is composed of ten teaching laboratories, three preparation rooms and one fully equipped ICT suite. We have recently bought brand new, state of the art data loggers; which are to be used in lessons to broaden the delivery of our subject. Our staff are well skilled in the teaching of all aspects of science, as well as possessing a specialisation in Biology, Chemistry or Physics and teach lessons using a variety of activities that cater to all student learning styles.

We aim to dynamically deliver the Science curriculum so that we stimulate and motivate the students we teach, resulting in an increased love for our subject and consequently improved progress. We are proud that 80% of our students achieved 2 GCSE A*-C grades this Summer. 

There are many choices in modern day life. Science can help make clear the best path into the future for ourselves, other and ultimately the planet too. TV, radio, newspapers and the internet are full of scientific facts and opinions. Understanding important scientific explanations helps to make sense of this complex world. 

Here at HTC we aim to give each child a first class scientific base for their future progress, reflecting the academic nature of our College. In their Science lessons students will enjoy an exciting progression through the National Curriculum Programmes of Study, leading to a complete development of their scientific knowledge and understanding. They will be constantly encouraged to actively explore the world around them, in a spirit of enquiry and investigation.
