International Links at HTC

Over the past few years we at Horndean Technology College have been working hard to expand the horizons of our students working with our partner schools in:

• Canada
• India
• Ukraine
• China
• Belgium
• Australia
• Kenya
• Japan
• Hungary

This hard work has been recognised and we have been awarded the International School Award (full) by the British Council. We've been working hard to think of inspiring projects that we can put together and bring to life in collaboration with one another. The next few weeks should reveal some exciting developments as we seek to unveil our projects officially during our International Week in November and through out the year. We have chosen seven key projects, with many more ancillary projects hinging around the work of individual Departments and Teachers:

2. International Drama
3. International Week
4. International Arts Festival
5. International Charities
6. International Film and Media Club
7. International Cookbook

You will have to wait to see how these projects span out over the coming year, but any collaborative work undertaken between us and our partner UK schools, will retain students' education and welfare at its core. We want to make global citizens out of our students and this represents an exciting challenge.

This year we start a new project in conjunction with the British Council called ‘connecting classrooms’ and the aim of the project is to pair UK schools with schools in Africa. The schools in each country have to form a three school cluster in their own country and then form a cluster with schools in the UK and two in Africa. The two schools in the UK we will work are Horndean Junior school and Horndean Infant school. The two countries we will be working with are Cameroon and Uganda. This is a very exciting time for all of us and we are all looking forward to working on this new project.

To launch the project teachers and students will be arriving during International week from our African partners to work with our students. The connecting classrooms project last for three years and during this time we will take teachers and students to Cameroon and Uganda.
