Dancing their way to Success

This is a newly introduced webpage, specifically designed to promote Dance as an established discipline of the Arts at Horndean Technology College.

With already existing strong foundations of art within this educational establishment the ever developing department of Dance, sets a clear path for the collaboration of all art forms in developing the department of Performing Arts within the school.

This webpage looks to informing you of all programs of study, activities and events already in place at Horndean whilst also demonstrating the opportunities available for this department to grow even more. This is an exciting venture for the school and shows again how our institution continuously looks to giving extra opportunities for our students to further their study in varying subject areas.

Drama

The Drama Department is located in SF block, where we have two fully equipped drama studios. We also have use of Barton Hall, an amazing facility at our finger tips, allowing us to stage full scale productions with huge successes. We have two specialist staff a Faculty leader and technician to ensure the smooth running of our department.

The Department boasts a good selection of equipment including a myriad of stage lighting, lighting boards, sound equipment and large scale projection facilities. This equipment is being updated and added to continuously, to ensure we can provide the everything needed to cater to all interests and abilities.

The department is fast becoming more recognized locally for the collaborative work we do with Junior schools and the wider community and Drama is a popular choice in the curriculum. At KS3 all students experience a plethora of acting styles, genres and skills.

Accelerated Key Stage 3 classes mean that students can elect to take their options early and then look towards further courses to offer them even more curriculum development and enrichment.

At KS4 students select to take the BTEC First Certificate in Acting. All students follow the Edexcel course in Acting. With an outstanding 100% pass rates this year within the department we are sure to continue our high levels of professionalism and commitment.

We are a very enthusiastic and innovative Department and enjoy showcasing our talents in productions, evening performances, tours and examination results.
