How do I get onto the online homework calendar?

What is the best way to view the homework calendar?
The huge number of homework tasks set across the College means that the initial view of the homework calendar is quite daunting. The easiest way to view the homework calendar is to use the filters on the top left and the check boxes on the top right of the screen. With the filters you can filter for the appropriate year group; subject; Teacher and class. With the check boxes you can choose to look at only homework set this week or only homework due this week.
Why doesn’t the calendar show all my child’s homework when I select his class?
The class is often a timetable designation that is linked to a subject area. As children are usually in different classes for different subjects, only homework tasks for subjects for whom their class is identically entered to the one you have selected will show on the filtered page. What is the best way to find out my child’s homework for each subject?
After carrying out many mock searches, it seems that the most effective way to search for your child’s homework is to avoid using the “Class” filter altogether. The most effective way to find out homework set is to ensure that you uncheck the “due homework” check box and then filter for Year Group; Subject and Teacher. Most Teachers would only have one or two classes in each year group so it would then be very easy to identify your child’s class from those listed and thus establish their homework.
Can homework be handed in online or by email?
Some tasks can be set to be completed and handed in online but this is not compulsory. Homework can usually be submitted by email if you choose. This is particularly appropriate for some assignments such as PowerPoint presentations.

How do I return from the homework task I am viewing to the filtered calendar so I don’t have to start my search again?
When you filter the calendar, you are effectively filling in an online form. This means that from a homework task description, the back button on your browser will take you back to the page that is unfiltered. To overcome this and return to your filtered page so you can continue your search, use the “Back to H/W calendar link at the bottom of the task description.
What about homework due on a Sunday?
Homework due in on a Sunday is as a result of Teacher inputting error. You should assume that any homework “due” on a Sunday is actually due the next lesson after that date.
Will homework still be set in class?
One of the key benefits of ShowMyHomework is that we can save valuable learning time in class as students no longer have to record lengthy homework tasks. Students will be made aware in class that they have homework set and will be directed to ShowMyHomework to find out what it is. Homework in planners may be in the form of a date, “see SMH” and a due date only.

What if we don’t have web access at home?
Recent surveys tell us that the vast majority of our students have access to a PC and the internet at home. If a student does not have access, they will need to access A12 or X Block facilities to identify what their homework is. If there are major problems, the student should take responsibility and ask the Teacher for a printed copy of the homework task and resources.
